The snow is all gone today, thank the Lord. It does not stay too long which is fine with us.

2 February 1945, Colonel Jeffrey released as Commanding Officer and Colonel Sunderland takes over per G.O. #1, dated 2 February 1945.

3 February 1945, Sgt. Henes hit "Hash Marks" column in the Stars and Stripes - below:

7 March 1945, if you want to get the full details about the "Mahotgus" still in the bathroom of Capt. Scharding & Lt. Krinke's quarters you will have to sit down with them and they will tell you from start to finish. We always hoped that the Air Inspector would not want to check their quarters out because they would both have been Court Martialed. They have had the still in operation for sometime. The first batch of it was tried out by a few of the boys. Tom Philbin drank a few glasses of it and did not wake up for three days. In fact we thought for sure we would have to take him to sick quarters to have his stomach pumped out. Lt. Joyce did not fare quite so bad, he was out for one and one half days. Philbin claims that the Old Man and Lt. Krinke were trying to poison him. From that time on the boys would cut the stuff in half before they used it. The consensus from everyone is that if the still blew up it would sound like a V-2 landing.
